Bureau Veritas Was Invited to the Future Technology Development Conference for the Coatings Industry to Support the Industry to Achieve Carbon Neutrality

On June 23, "2021 China Coating Industry's Future Technology Development Conference" was successfully held in Changzhou. The conference is sponsored by China Coating Industry Association, co-sponsored by Changzhou National New Coating and High-tech Industry Base, and organized by Changzhou Coating Association, Committee of Experts of China Coating Industry Association, as well as China Coatings Magazine Co. Bureau Veritas (hereinafter referred to as 'BV') was invited to participate in the conference. Ms.Yang Xiaoman, the sustainable project manager of BV, introduced BV's carbon neutrality solutions to the audience.

Ms. Yang Xiaoman stated that: Climate change is a defining concern of the modern era, and governments, businesses and individuals are seeking ways to reduce their impact on the environment. In December 2020, the Central Economic Work Conference has listed "peaking carbon dioxide emissions and achieving carbon neutrality" as one of the key tasks in 2021. Besides, a course of action, to achieve carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, has been required to formulate urgently. In the face of the growing trend of energy saving and carbon neutrality, enterprises have a long way to go and need professional and scientific tools and methods.

At the ninth meeting of the Central Finance and Economics Commission on March 15, General Secretary Xi Jinping has made a important speech to stress that achieving the peak of carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality is a broad and profound systematic transformation to economy and society, which should be incorporated into the overall blueprint of ecological civilization construction, so as to achieve the goal of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060 on schedule. In Yang Xiaoman's presentation, she compared the source of global carbon emissions and that of China, and introduced the carbon neutrality targets of various countries, as well as the carbon emission commitments of internationally renowned companies, etc. She stated that BV can help companies with energy management training, energy audits, energy saving retrofit project management, energy management systems, energy saving measurement and verification, etc., which can support companies to reduce fossil energy use at the source.
